چکیده

We show that previous filtering propositions on two-sided stability problems do not enforce arc consistency (AC), however they maintain Bound(D) Consistency (BC(D)). We propose an optimal algorithm achieving BC(D) with O(L) time complexity where L is the length of the preference lists. We also show an adaptation of this filtering approach to achieve AC. Next, we report the first polynomial time algorithm for solving the hospital/resident problem with forced and forbidden pairs. Furthermore, we show that the particular case of this problem for stable marriage can be solved in O(n) which improves the previously best complexity by a factor of n. Finally, we present a comprehensive set of experiments to evaluate the filtering propositions.

An algorithm for integrated worker assignment, mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and bottleneck analysis

This paper addresses a multi-objective mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and worker assignment with bottleneck analysis when the task times are dependent on the worker’s skill. This problem is known as NP-hard class, thus, a hybrid cyclic-hierarchical algorithm is presented for solving it. The algorithm is based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Theory of Constraints (TOC) an...

Stable project allocation under distributional constraints

In a two-sided matching market when agents on both sides have preferences the stability of the solution is typically the most important requirement. However, we may also face some distributional constraints with regard to the minimum number of assignees or the distribution of the assignees according to their types. These two requirements can be challenging to reconcile in practice. In this pape...

Input/Output Stabilization in the General Two-Sided Model Matching Setup

The problem of input-output stabilization in a general two-sided model matching setup is studied. As a first step, the problem is reduced to a pair of uncoupled bilateral Diophantine equations over RH. Then, recent results on bilateral Diophantine equation are exploited to obtain a numerically tractable solution given in terms of explicit state-space formulae. The resulting solvability conditio...

The new implicit finite difference scheme for two-sided space-time fractional partial differential equation

Fractional order partial differential equations are generalizations of classical partial differential equations. Increasingly, these models are used in applications such as fluid flow, finance and others. In this paper we examine some practical numerical methods to solve a class of initial- boundary value fractional partial differential equations with variable coefficients on a finite domain. S...

ORE extraction and blending optimization model in poly- metallic open PIT mines by chance constrained one-sided goal programming

Determination a sequence of extracting ore is one of the most important problems in mine annual production scheduling. Production scheduling affects mining performance especially in a poly-metallic open pit mine with considering the imposed operational and physical constraints mandated by high levels of reliability in relation to the obtained actual results. One of the important operational con...
